Hi,
As far as I know Synaptic and mintupdate share the same proxy configuration (from Synatpic package manager). Among these options I have http and ftp proxies but not socks. I have configured proxychains to use apt-get so I still can use the terminal to update the packages. I also tried to use polipo but I had to make the proxy kind of permanent in the system and I would like to be able to activate and deactivate the proxy quite easily. That is something I can do with the system Proxy network configuration and proxychains. I tried to open mintupdate with proxychains but it doesn't work.
Any suggestions about how to make Synaptic and mintupdate work with socks?
I am using both Mint 17.3 Mate and Mint 18.3 Mate in two different PCs
