Several Computers; one user profile

Post by kjnelan » Sun Jul 15, 2018 12:43 pm

I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post this question, but I'm a bit befuddled. I'm in a clinic that is running about six independent workstations and a main file server. Until now we have set up each workstation to mount an NFS partition and manually added configurations and symbolic links to shared drives, profiles, etc... I'd really like to simplify our systems and we are at the point that we can do fresh installs on all the workstations, but not the server.

What I'd really like is to be able to walk up to any of the computers in our clinic and log into a central profile so that my desktop (and that of our other clinicians) and other profile information follows me from computer to computer without having to manually add all the configs for every user every time we get a new user.

I'm perfectly okay with reading mans, but I have no clue what to look for. I am familiar with setting up servers and running the command line.

Thanks much for any help that can be offered.

Fr. Kenn
