[SOLVED] Can't refresh list of updates

Post by akariiiin »

Hi! I'm coming with an issue I saw lots of people have, but couldn't find a way to replicate a procedure that would fix the issue in my computer.

It's pretty simple, my internet works perfectly, I can use the software manager. But I can't refresh the list of updates on Update Manager, and can't update anything on my Linux Mint. Some time ago, I tried connecting my computer to my laptop (with no success) so I think I may have changed something and now I can't connect to repositories.

I tried lots of stuff already that I found browsing through forums but nothing worked so far, I'm kind of noob so it's hard for me to adapt solutions to my own computer.

Changing mirrors doesn't help at all and this is the error I'm getting:
Could not refresh the list of updates
Failed to fetch http://archive.removed/ubuntu/dists/ ... /InRelease 403 Forbidden IP,
The repository 'http://archive.removed/ubuntu xenial-removed InRelease' is not signed.

Code: Select all

Could not refresh the list of updates
Failed to fetch http://archive.removed/ubuntu/dists/xenial-removed/InRelease 403 Forbidden IP,
The repository 'http://archive.removed/ubuntu xenial-removed InRelease' is not signed.
The root cause of your issue is really trivial:
The software repository removed has been dead now for quite a while.

The solution is:
Use Software Sources and disable the removed repository. Then try Update Manager again.
