Sounds like the homepage or startup page for Chrome is set to reddit.com

To change homepage in Chrome:
1. click on the 3 vertical dots at upper right corner of browser window and select Settings from context menu
2. In Appearance section, you can enable Home button and set action when you click on Home button
3. In On Startup, you can set action when you start Chrome

Thanks athi but I don't think that's the answer. I have the startup page set to www.https.google.co.uk.

Is there anything in your add-ons that might cause this? That's the first place I'd check.

Actually I think I may have inadvertently signed in or subscribed to it or something connected to it, but I can not see any way of unsubscribing.
Old age again is the problem I fear!

To check add-ons/extension, click on the 3 vertical dots at upper right corner of browser window and select More tools-Extensions

To clear browser data, click on the 3 vertical dots at upper right corner of browser window and select More tools-Clear browsing data to open Clear browsing data window. Select Advanced tab for more options.

Thanks athi and Moem, done all that! I've now added a web blocker thingy so I'll see if that does the trick.
