ssh between 2 vm's

Post by Tapster » Sat Aug 24, 2019 9:56 am

I've set up 2 Virtual Machines in VMware and can ping without issue between them. I try to ssh between the machines and get:
ssh: connect to host 192.168.x.x port 22: Connection refused.
Assistance greatly appreciated.

Not a VMware user but given "ping without issue" it would seem the issue would boil down to an unreachable sshd on target, either due to no sshd running or a firewall interfering. If former, start sshd, if latter, disable or configure the firewall.

Resolved: ssh between 2 vm's

Post by Tapster » Sat Aug 24, 2019 6:39 pm

The reference/link to linuxize.... was exactly what I needed. I didn't think the service had been enabled but couldn't find any reference on how to correct it/check it. I assumed ssh would be enabled at install.
Thanks for the help.
