Hi All,
I'm trying to get VPN (PPTP) working, and as part of this I wanted to look at /var/log/messages, but its not there. Has it simply been disabled by default, and if so, is there an easy way to re-enable it?
Anyone else had problems with VPN connections on Linux Mint 11, and if so can you point me at a solution? I'm getting "VPN Connection Failed, The VPN connection failed because the VPN service failed to start."

You can try the Log File Viewer application that is available in the Control Center . . or Menu -> Administration

This starts out as a system logs gone AWOL post but the ultimate goal is to get VPN working so I moved it here.

The log file you are looking for is called "syslog" in the Log Viewer.
