Mint logo for web pages

OK so I go to the main Mint page and look for a mint logo to link back to from my web page and what do I find?

NOTHING

So how do you guys expect web page owners to push Linux Mint ?

I have added a Mint LXDE logo to one of my web pages to show what is possible.

http://users.picknowl.com.au/~gloaming_ ... 5rev7.html

So how hard is that?

The tragedy is that when I link back to the main Mint page, LXDE doesn't even get a mention.

I'm sure Linux users who have web pages would be willing to provide free advertising/promotion if asked.

Just from my niche web pages 100.000 visitors a year would see the Linux Mint logo.

If I were to reply in the same manner as that to your snarky post, I would have wrote:
So, how hard is it to click Tools > Page Info > Media tab in Firefox to find the direct URL to the logo you were looking for?
Lo and behold! I found it within a few seconds: http://www.linuxmint.com/img/logo.png

The official Linux Mint Art website holds a lot of useful images: http://linuxmint-art.org/

I know that Vince but what I am saying is this:

You're missing the point.

If you were to go to a commercial site wishing you to promote their free service, they would probably have a range of Company logos, and possibly some HTML script, specifically sized, and set up, and made available for any person offering to promote their service through a non affiliated web site - gratis.

eg. Free Web Submissions is a good case in point.

http://freewebsubmission.com/

They have a section specifically set up for web masters - "Web master resources". They also have a wide range of logos suitable for discrete addition to web pages as per the example on my web page.

The list of logo's is able to be easily viewed after you submit a web page, as a follow up ask for their service.

The basic header logo pointed at by the previous poster is not what a web developer would be necessarily looking for.

So how about following the example of the site above and have a set of logo's and maybe HTML available in a similar web resource section? It doesn't have to be huge, just a few specifically tailored and approved examples.

If I rocked the boat, it's only because maybe a good shake would get people thinking outside of the existing box.

I would like to see Linux Mint get promoted- and it is not difficult if you approach it in a similar manner to any other commercial entity.

Perhaps you could rephrase and make a new post then? Making it an open call to the artists on the forums to come up with something cool  I'm pretty sure most would agree with you that a professional Linux Mint web banner would be a good addition. Don't make Clem do it though, it will take time away from polishing Cinnamon!

I am quite happy to repost on this subject, however there are a few things that need to be done first for this not to be a waste of time.

There needs to be;

- agreement that any logo(s) of suitable quality that are produced will not be buried away in all the other artwork and hard to find,
- the logo(s) be endorsed for use on web sites so that web desigers feel comfortable about using them regarding copyright etc.
- the logos be promoted on the main Mint web page

If none of these are in place then promotion through external independent web pages is not going to happen to any significant degree.

The StatCounter data from my web pages indicates that less than 10% of all traffic is using Linux at present (that's all versions in total). So Linux has got a very long way to go before it becomes a major player.
