Post by cato40 » Fri Jan 11, 2019 12:46 am

I would appreciate it very much ,if anyone could show me how to create a folder titled "Printer" within my Download
folder;so that I can maintain all of the "install" files for my printer ,in case I need to re-install it.
Thanking you

From the terminal:

Code: Select all

mkdir -p ~/Downloads/Printer
Mint 19.2 Cinnamon
kernel 5.0.0-25-generic
AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core w/16 GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 960 w/2GB RAM (430.40)

... and just in case that makes you think that "from the terminal" is in any way required: in your file manager, rightclick an empty part of the Downloads folder and choose to "Create New Folder" (or select it from the File menu). Seems rather basic.

Besides rightclick/mouse: shift-control-N in preferred filemanager...

Whether in any Linux, Windows or Mac operating system - the right mouse button is a miracle.
This from a lazy, die-hard mouse lover...

The OP has over 200 posts here and has to ask how to create a sub folder? My spidey sense is tingling.

You'd be surprised. A friend of mine has been using PC's since the late 90's and doesn't know how to compress a file...use the "Find" feature and couldn't tell you the difference between a file manager and a task manager.
For plenty of people, the computer is just a "fun box"...just get them to YouTube or flash games...that's it.

MY wife used to be able to talk people through their computer problems over the phone. Some would comment to me that it must be great to have a wife who knows about computers. She couldn't even turn one on, let alone use one! She'd just heard me so often, that she knew the standard questions and answers by rote. It's only in the last couple of years that she has even started using a computer, and that is just to watch netflix and movies.
Kernel: 4.15.0-46-generic x86_64 bits
Desktop: Cinnamon 3.8.9
Distro: Linux Mint 19 Tara

Server AMD Phenom 9650 - GEForce 9400GT 6Gb RAM
+ three other Mint machines
