You Tube and Chromium

Post by hackindave » Thu Feb 13, 2014 11:44 pm

I run Mint Maya and prefer Chromium for a web browser. But many many times the video says "This video is currently unavailable". But if I start Firefox, it runs perfect with no problems.
I do not run a anti-virus or a firewall. Any ideas??

You need to install the chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra package

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra

I tried ro run in in terminal. I could type the command in, but when it asked for my password, I couldn't type anything in. I am fairly new to Linux so I figured terminal is where it should be ran, is that correct?

That is correct. When you are typing your password for sudo nothing will show. This is normal - just type the password and "Enter".

You can launch synaptic and do a search on

Code: Select all

chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra
Right click and install from there.

You will still need to enter your login password to access synaptic.
