[SOLVED] Remove Hibernate from Quit menu

Post by kyrios »

Hello,

I am running Mint 16 (MATE) and I would like to remove the hibernate button from the Quit menu because I don't have a swap partition.
I followed the instructions from this tutorial but it didn't work : http://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/626

I also had a look in the dconf Editor org -> mate - power to make sure nothing is set to hibernate.

Could anyone help please ?

Thank you.

That tutorial worked for me, maybe you didn't do it right.

My Shutdown/Quit menu looks different. I guess you're on Cinnamon, I'm running Mint 16 (main) MATE edition.
Perhaps MATE uses other config file ? (however it was done for Linux Mint 10 which used Gnome 2 I guess so it should be closer from MATE than from Cinnamon)

It looks like this here.
As you can see I set allow_active to no for hibernate and of course I saved the file, but the button still remains in the quit menu.

Doesn't work for me in Qiana Mate either.

Look here for clues: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.p ... 60#p869660 While the post itself deals with ADDING 'Hibernate', look to the buttom of my post for removal of 'Hibernate' in LM17 MATE. (I'm using 64-bit, I assume the procedure is the same for 32-bit as well?)

It probably goes wthout typing but ... Backups before doing changes are always a must and changes/edits must be done 'as root'. Preferably from a terminal window.
