(SOLVED) Update Manager doesn't seem to be working

Post by amasa »

I hadn't checked the Update Manager for a while (weeks, probably), but I noticed a couple of days ago that the icon was indicating that there are no updates. But there are always updates, particularly since I don't always install them. Is this related to the repository issues discussed over the past couple of days? Is it just a matter of waiting ...

If you are using Mint 16 there are no more updates.

In Mint 17 there have been a lot of updates in the last couple of weeks. Are you still not seeing them in the Update Manager?

Well, I am now. I don't know what I have done but somehow I have cleared the blockage. Along with the Update Manager problem I could not get Software Manager to open either, and in poking about I seem to have fixed the problem. Which is unsatisfactory or course, not knowing the cause of the problem, or the nature of the solution, but in this case I'll accept "fixed" as good enough.
