Hi,
I'm trying to figure out how to remove a login profile picture once it has been set. I selected my own image, made it my Account picture, and didn't like it, so rather than change it I wanted to remove the picture all together. I deleted the .face file in the home directory, and now when I go to my Account details section in the Settings it shows the picture as blank (just like how it was before I selected any picture), however the picture still appears at the login screen. I'm assuming when I chose it a copy was made and saved somewhere else besides ~/.face- does anybody know where in the file system this is cached? Thanks!

Re: How to remove user profile login image
There's a /usr/share/faces/ folder on my system.

Reason: corrected usr/share/faces to read /usr/share/faces. The initial / does make a difference. It makes the difference between a relative pathname and a fully qualified pathname

Re: How to remove user profile login image
On my Cinnamon system the stock images for faces are in /usr/share/cinnamon/faces
However, the image I am using, set in Users and Groups (it is in the main menu) does not appear in the above mentioned source (and why should it?).
Most likely you are using MDM instead of LightDM - there is no image in LightDM. Consider installing it.
To find anything on your system try the "locate" command followed by the name of the file you are looking for.

Re: How to remove user profile login image
No /usr/share/faces/ folder on my system. However there was a /usr/share/cinnamon/faces/ folder and like kyphi said the user picture is not there. I'd use the locate command if I knew what the file was called, but I'm assuming the system changed it's name after copying/caching it since when I search with what it was originally called, only the original from my picture folder appears. And I've tried renaming/deleting the original in the picture folder with no effect
So basically this image is still being cached somewhere and who knows where...

Cannot verify right now but I believe it was /var/lib/AccountsService/icons/
Re: How to remove user profile login image
Yup! Rene got it!
The system renamed it to be the same as my user name (the one that displays in the Terminal).
Thanks all for the help
