Time change in Forum? [work around SOLVED]

Postby wallyUSA » Wed Nov 08, 2017 8:45 am

Is there a setting to automatically change the time (in forum)? I just went off DST so my time on the forum was off by one hour. I changed my zone from UTC-4 to UTC-5 so now times are correct for me. Seems like there should be an 'automatic' setting? Have not found it so far. :?:

Yeah, it's a bit hidden. It's the big red button at https://petitions.moveon.org/sign/end-daylight-savings-5.

Sorry, but all I see is a button to sign a petition!?

Indeed, I was implicitly/jokingly answering that (as far as I can see) no option for DST exists on this forum. Admittedly, I might not be aware of all options since the fact that time-display changes between being logged in and not already means find it confusing enough that I pay little attention to times.

There's a law in front of the European parliament right now trying to get rid of DST; it only confuses things further. I jokingly linked to a petition to have the same happen in the USA; to hence in that manner solve your issue...

@rene: Thanks for explaining, thought I was going blind! I am kind of new to the forum.

I agree with your position to do away with DST. Do other countries do this? I thought it was just a USA thing.

Cheers, Wally

Certainly; all of Europe for one. And together with former users, basically the entire world: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_time.

The grey area on that map may grow a bit in the coming years though; there's getting to be significant opposition to DST worldwide. I hope so...

hi wally...in the meanwhile, while the law makers take their time extricating their heads from their posterior backsides...take this url... https://time.is/UTC ... and copy and past it into your browser address bar and perhaps bookmark it into your browser...it will help you decipher the time differences that we all encounter...enjoy...DAMIEN
