Installing "Journey" diary client under wine

Post by tarverator »

I have a Thinkpad x230 i5-3360M running Linux Mint Mate 18.1 (Serena) 64-bit with wine-2.4 (Staging).

I would like to use the Windows client for the "Journey" diary https://2appstudio.com/journey/ under wine if possible.

The installation package Journey-2.2.11-Setup-x64.exe fails immediately with a dialog saying "Incompatible Operating System: This program cannot run on Windows XP or before; it requires a later version of Windows."

Setting the Windows version in winecfg has no discernible effect.

I know that my installation of wine works, because I can run the Concept2 utility.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Hi "tarverator",

I would recommend that you try an application that works under Linux natively without using Linux Wine system. You could install Google Chrome browser with the Journey Application or extension in that; might work with other Chrome and Chromium browsers like Slimjet and or Opera too. They also seem to have a cloud based option.

"CherryTree" - Superb notes application with the ability for diary or journaling.

The Journey cloud based interface has minimal functionality, but the Chrome extension does exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks!
(I am still mildly curious about why wine doesn't even run the installer, but I'm quite content to leave well enough alone so I don't break my Concept2 utility installation.)

Hi "tarverator",

You are very welcome ...

I would also take a look at some of the other applications like Cherrytree, etc...
