Are there ANY monitors that do not have dead pixels?

Post by flatiron »

I have been through 5 monitors now. They have all had dead pixels. One came with dozens of dead pixels. I have NEVER had this issue before. Know of any that do not have dead pixels?

Did you use any test to find dead pixels?
How did you find that some are dead?

That sounds bad, did you return it?

I have never seen a monitor with dead pixels, out of at least 8 I have used in 8 years. Could it be the RAM in your video card instead?

I don't think I have ever seen a dead pixel on any of my monitors.

The monitors with dead pixels are sold off cheap as second or third brands in countries where the consumer laws are not helpful. We do not see dead pixels in Australia because you can send the product back to the shop for a refund. No shop would want to handle a product with a high return rate.

I have an Acer and an AOC. Neither one has any dead pixels.

These were Philips and NEC. The NEC was the worst I have ever seen. Dozens of dead white pixels. May be related to modern bezel-less monitors.

Dead white pixels are a total failure of the LCD mechanism to block any light. That is crazy bad. The faults should be picked up by the LCD manufacturer before the screen is shipped to the Foxconn factory assembling the screen for the brand. Perhaps the slave labour in the Foxconn factories hit the back of the screens with a hammer.

No more NEC then. But I thought they replaced them all with robots since they got tired of watching them commit suicide when they weren't paid.

I had an LG with a few dodgy pixels; two blue and one red IIRC. Dealt with them by gentle finger massage over the affected pixels & haven't reappeared since, even with the new owner.
