Social Media "Malware" Warnings
November 25, my Facebook account was apparently hijacked by a so-called "malware" warning, upon logging in. It reads:

Re: Social Media "Malware" Warnings
I use both Mozilla Firefox and Pale Moon, which are both the same...I think.
Re: Social Media "Malware" Warnings
See these links. I'd guess Facebook is making money from this.

As they say on the Pale Moon forums, Pale Moon is not Firefox and never will be again.SMN5507 wrote:

Re: Social Media "Malware" Warnings
So, does this now show up every time you log in to Facebook? Can you get a screenshot of it? I would suspect it is "phishing" or "social engineering." Do you have popups disabled in your browser? Do you use a content filtering/ad blocking add-on like uBlock Origin? You should.

Absolutely. My account is virtually being held hostage. I want it freed!
Re: Social Media "Malware" Warnings
Try booting with your Mint install dvd/usb into the live desktop and
try fb from there to see any difference

Re: Social Media "Malware" Warnings
I just knew their was a good reason that i have always hated things like facebook and twitter and have always refused to use them...this seems to be a good case in point...i can only surmise that facebook gets some sort of revenue from eset as well as another possible way to play hoover vacuum on all info possible on its users...DAMIEN

Absolutely WHAT? Absolutely it shows up every time you log in to Facebook? Absolutely you can get a screenshot of it? (I don't see one attached.) Absolutely you have popups disabled in your browser? Absolutely you have uBlock Origin or similar installed? Absolutely WHAT? If you want help, you are going to have to give us some information.SMN5507 wrote:Absolutely.

Re: Social Media "Malware" Warnings
I have used Facebook for years and have never had any problems. But then I have popups disabled (and have sense enough not to click on them anyway), I have uBlock Origin installed and enabled in my browser, and so on. I don't have a Twitter account, but I do visit there now and then if somebody tells me of something interesting or useful there. Never had any problems with that, either.DAMIEN1307 wrote:I just knew their was a good reason that i have always hated things like facebook and twitter and have always refused to use them...

Did you look at my middle link above? The article is somewhat old, but the solutions might still work. I'll paste it in again, below.
