Cannot open Update Manager
Hi all,
My Update Manager icon has disappeared from toolbar and can't be added back on. I can't launch Update Manager from menu. And when I try gksudo update-manager in terminal I get this response in the terminal:
No space left on device
(gksudo:3170): Gtk-WARNING **: Theme directory of theme oxygen has no size field
and this error pops up:
Failed to run update-manager as user root.
Unable to copy the user's Xauthorization file.
Any help would be appreciated.
Running 18.2 32-bit XFCE

Re: Cannot open Update Manager
That might be a clue. If you can run a terminal, post the output of this terminal command:No space left on device
Code: Select all
inxi -Fxz
Also post the output of this command, also inside code markers:
Code: Select all
df
Code: Select all
grep "\sro[\s,]" /proc/mounts

Re: Cannot open Update Manager
Forgive me, but I cannot work out how to use these code markers. Apparently there is a guide somewhere but I can't find that either.
Re: Cannot open Update Manager
Code: Select all
Highlight the text and click on "Code" on the toolbar above the textbox.
Re: Cannot open Update Manager
I did that and I just get
Code: Select all
at each end of the text. Nothing else changes.

Re: Cannot open Update Manager
Can't seem to do anything, everything coming up with "Unable to copy the user's Xauthorization file."

Re: Cannot open Update Manager
sda6 is 100 % full. Remove stuff from it.
It's quickest and easiest to start doing some cleaning from within Recovery mode. So boot Mint into Recovery and use the "clean" option.
Can you login normally afterwards? If so, proceed with safe cleaning:
