Samsung RF710 Mint Xfce 18.3 Samsung tools problem

Post by Chris1984 » Mon Mar 19, 2018 4:03 am

Hi,
I just installed Mint Samusng tools from Voria version 2.3.1 and noticed following:
When display is turned off and on laptop freezes every few seconds and all videos in browser and VLC stutter. Only restart helps. Secondly hard drive doesn't work properly. It spins down every second and turns on very often even on workload. All above don't exist without Samsung tools. I think this is caused by power management grom these tools. Is there any way to get all FN keys working without tools?

Please generate an overview of your system like this:
- Launch a terminal window (this is how to launch a terminal window);
- make the terminal window full screen, to avoid chopped lines;
- Copy/paste this command into the terminal:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz
(if you type: the letter F is a capital letter)

Press Enter.

Copy/paste the output in your next message.

Try this:

1. Upgrade your kernel to the latest kernel of the 4.13 series. Reboot.

2. Then launch Driver Manager and install the closed non-free Nvidia driver it recommends. Reboot again.

3. Finally, disable all visual effects in Xfce:

OK, try this:

Update Manager - panel: View - Linux kernels

Install the latest kernel of the 4.4 series (currently 4.4.0-116). Reboot and make sure you boot from it (it's under the header Advanced in the Grub bootloader menu).

Hi,
Doesn't work unfotunately. I tested some other distros - the ones based on Arch don't have this problem, Problem doesn't occur on Mint 18.1 or at least is hardly vusible,
