[SOLVED] Mint 19 keyboard language settings constantly resetting after reboot

Post by JeWu »

Problem after upgrade from 18.3 to 19 :

Every time the system starts, I have to log in under US American keyboard settings, before I can change the settings back to my normal German setup using the sidebar GUI. Mint 16-18 did not display this behaviour.

Next reboot : set back to american english again!

Any hints, how to solve the issue?

Screenshot of system settings below.

Your keyboard input language is configured in the Keyboard tool, not the Languages tool shown in your screenshot. You probably just have both languages configured with US English as the default.

Run in Terminal

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration

Did that.
Seems to work fine, but gives me this warning:

Code: Select all

~ $ sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration

Your console font configuration will be updated the next time your system
boots. If you want to update it now, run 'setupcon' from a virtual console.

Can I just ignore it?
