Nothing Really Wrong - Just curious about this log

I just saw this log referenced for the first time, so being of the curious sort, looked to see what came up.

cat /var/log/syslog.1 | tail -25

Code: Select all

john@john-TP500LA ~ $ cat /var/log/syslog.1 | tail -25

so, why all of the statements "Stopping CUPS Scheduler" and then Started Make remote CUPS printers available locally. it is turned on again?

Most of the log, I can make sense of... but why so much attention to CUPS?

I just get the following for my wireless-connected printer. I don't have sharing enabled for it.

Code: Select all

Oct 24 10:57:41 satellite systemd[1]: Started CUPS Scheduler.
Oct 24 10:57:41 satellite systemd[1]: Listening on CUPS Scheduler.
Oct 24 10:57:41 satellite systemd[1]: Started CUPS Scheduler.
Oct 24 10:57:43 satellite systemd[1]: Started Make remote CUPS printers available locally.
Take a look at your printer configuration with localhost:631 in a web browser and see if anything looks unusual there.
LM19 Cinnamon, Intel Core i5 8400 2.8(4.0)GHz, Corsair Vengeance 3400 16GB, Asus Cerberus GTX1050 Ti OC, Samsung 970 Evo 500GB M.2, Western Digital Blue 4TB, Wircard RealTek 8821ae PCIe Dual Band Wireless+Bluetooth 4.0, Pioneer BDR-209EBK BDRW

Okay,

makes sense now.

My cups printer using Samba took a nose dive, so I deleted it, and there aren't any cups printers installed at the moment.

I gave up on that, and went to WiFi only.
