youtube on firefox shows videos in low quality very often

i live in israel and when playing videos they are in very low picture quality.

why is that?

how fast is your isp speed test ? if your speed is decent it is more likely a DNS issue
try:
change your DNS: i'll just put an example for cloudfare even though the picture has openDNS

restart your connection after changing DNS. turn it off/on or reboot

I have a satellite connection to the internet.

during the late evening hours when more people are cruising the internet, I can only view any video at about 240p

during other hours, I can view it at up to 720p, never more than that because my Bandwidth plan automatically limits to 480p.... but when most folks are asleep, I can view at 720p.

for me, it is just simpler to force the YouTube settings to 240p and not worry about it.
that way, it never buffers on me.
