Hi there,
I have developed some tools to help nVidia users be able to monitor their CPU and GPU temps while in-game. This is the closest I could come to providing a tool like MSI Afterburner.
Includes a custom conkyrc file that changes the color based on temperature that displays in the bottom right of the screen, a script for controlling GPU fan speed based on temperature, and a script for toggling Conky to the foreground/background, along with instructions on how to set it all up.
Feel free to download the files from:

Be sure to share and tell your friends about this if you like it!
If anyone has any bright ideas on how to get Framerate (FPS) displayed in Conky I'm all ears. In the meantime you can just use the one on Steam.
Tested in Linux Mint 19.1 Cinnamon.
