dpkg frontend lock [issue]

Post by Mumrik93 » Thu Jul 25, 2019 2:08 pm

So i've just installed Linux Mint on my PC after getting some help from user Athi ( viewtopic.php?f=46&t=298361 ) And i'm in full swing getting all my stuff back in place again. But i've encountered another issue that i've never seen before (have Linux Mint: Cinnamon on my back-up laptop as well) Whenever i attempt to install anything, the installation never seem to finish.. it just keeps loading and loading and nothing really happen, and now i keep getting this error message saying;
Unable to acquire the dpkg frontend lock (/var/lib/dpkg/lock-frontend), is another process using it?
The issue here is that i don't have any other processes running, i typed in the "sudo killall apt apt-get" and it comes out blank, no process what so ever.
I've noticed that my PC runs a bit slowly.. when i first booted in and started downloading some software (worked great at first) the install process for every software i installed took a very long time, not just the downloading part but the install part as well. The download process i can accept, the drivers for my wifi-adapter is really recent in the kernel and are probably not that good, but the install process shouldn't be this slow. I tried installing Dropbox but after "Installing" for 30 minutes, being stuck at 40% i decided to abort.

I dont know if this might have something to do with my system being installed on an SSD, while /home and /var are mounted on an HDD. I also have a 16gb SWAP on the SSD (my RAM is 16gb), but not on the HDD, might any of these be the issues?

There were a few previous posts for this issue. Looks like it is cause by multiple process attempting to install/update at the same time.

I gave the "ps aux | grep -i apt" command another try and now it actually did find something. Have no idea what they are thou.

root 11880 0.0 0.8 336276 142516 ? SNl 19:11 0:04 /usr/bin/python3 /usr/sbin/aptd
root 12631 0.0 0.6 315840 107732 pts/0 SNs+ 19:11 0:03 /usr/bin/python3 /usr/sbin/aptd
mumrik 21137 0.0 0.0 17184 1040 pts/2 S+ 21:07 0:00 grep --color=auto -i apt

But then i try to use the "sudo killall apt apt-get" command, it simly says it cant find any processes. It's been like this for a good few hours now.
