[SOLVED] Kernel update 4.15.0.55.57 breaks touchpad mouse

Post by LorenWard » Wed Jul 31, 2019 9:16 pm

I updated the other day (thankfully with a Timeshift backup) to this kernel version and the touchpad mouse on my Lenovo Ideapad 130S-11IGM no longer worked. Sometimes after a reboot it would work for a few seconds then stop.

Is there a fix for this? I just reverted to the old kernel version.

Please post results of terminal command

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz
in code tags. The simple answer is if the kernel isnt suitable for you, do not use it.

Try the latest but one kernel: 4.15.0-54.

I will try -54, thank you. Is it bad that I might not be able to use -57?

OK, then try this: install the latest kernel of the 5.0 series. Then reboot and test.

The update manager is wanting to install 4.x again, is it safe to right click -> ignore all future updates for this package or will that ignore all kernel updates (including the 5.x)?

It will ignore only for 4.x kernel.
