How do I get rid of Google news refresh popup? (Solved)

Post by farkas » Fri Aug 23, 2019 12:10 am

Recently I started getting this popup while using google news.

I click on it and it does the same thing as firefox's refresh button. It's very annoying! It keeps popping up after a couple of minutes. Is there a setting to disable it? It happens even when logged into google. Sent a message to google 'contact us', haven't heard from them.
Anyone else getting it?
Thanks.

Maybe you can disable it in Firefox menu, Preferences, Privacy & Security, Permissions, Notifications (Settings). Just a guess, but have a look.

Or, maybe it can somehow be disabled on the Google News site itself?

Got rid of it!
I have uBlok Origin extension for firefox. Right clicked on the offending popup. It opened a dialogue box. Tried several options until it worked.
It hasn't come up for the last five days. :D
Or maybe google discontinued it. :?:

Ublock Origin can not only block all advertisements and popups, its also useful for blocking the animated GIFs that some folk like to use.
