sudo security vulnerability

Post by earthlingkc » Mon Oct 14, 2019 8:38 pm

Sounds like sudo has a vulnerability...
https://www.engadget.com/2019/10/14/lin ... /#comments

Says it's fixed with sudo 1.8.28 or later.

I have Mint 19.2 updated and it shows sudo as 1.8.21p2.

Do I need to manually update sudo or will it be in Update Manager soon?

If you're looking for a greener Linux pasture, you won't find any that is greener than Linux Mint. ;)

We will get it when it shows up as an update.

And to ease the minds of those not aware, Ubuntu does their own packaging of sudo, so you won't see 1.8.28, but instead 1.8.21p2-3ubuntu1.1 is the patched version.

For 18.x users of Mint, 1.8.16-0ubuntu1.8 is the patched version.

Yep--Mint users got it made in the shade.

Thanks to all involved in the supersonic mitigations.
