Kernel CONFIG_HZ misreporting

Post by sagsaw »

I have Linuxmint 19.3 installed running kernel 5.4.0-48-generic

When I check the file /boot/config-5.4.0-48-generic

Code: Select all

CONFIG_HZ_250=y
# CONFIG_HZ_300 is not set
# CONFIG_HZ_1000 is not set
CONFIG_HZ=250
clearly the kernel is configured with CONFIG_HZ set at 250

But when I check the output of this command

Code: Select all

getconf CLK_TCK

it show output as 100

also using this command and subtracting the results it also shows ~=100

Code: Select all

cat /proc/interrupts |grep LOC; sleep 1;cat /proc/interrupts |grep LOC
Whats the issue then? When the kernel is clearly configured to use the 250Hz option how is it showing 100?
