I have had issues with my computer for a few weeks now.
I believe it may have started with an update?
I have updated everything now from bios to graphic drivers to no avail.
My system is completely updated.
I have been using the system monitor and the top command to see if I can catch what is happening.
It looks like every now and them cinnamon process jumps up to 100% from about 2% when this happens I can still move the mouse, but if I am typing or moving a window things freeze for about a second or two.
picture of system resources: (although cinnamon is measuring 84% it actually goes over 100% as shown by the System monitor)

Re: Computer or Cinnamon 4.8.6 Freezes momentarily
Since the previous post I have restarted Linux and selected the previous kernel as the boot option.
5.4.0-67-generic, but still the same cinnamon version
So far I do not seem to have the same problem; I will keep monitoring, the problem might take time to manifest its self?

Re: Computer or Cinnamon 4.8.6 Freezes momentarily
To keep the chief cooks here happy, please follow the "How to get help" section:
When posting output of commands use the "Code" tags if it is more than 2 or 3 lines long - this makes it more readable. The button that inserts these tags is marked
I too am having a problem with a freeze (again) so I bumped myself down from 5.4.0-70 to 5.4.0-67 just a little while ago and will monitor.
Difference being I use 19.3 Tricia and have a Ryzen machine. My freeze had started on the kernel update a couple of days ago.
Good Luck!

Well, just had to restart the beast after another freeze... I just checked and it was back to 5.4.0-70?? Will go back to the -67 version and try this again.

Re: Computer or Cinnamon 4.8.6 Freezes momentarily
The suggestion was to install a 5.8 series kernel, not a newer 5.4 kernel. In Linux you need to actually read these things.
