Mint 20.1 Cinnamon freezes/locks up

Hello all! Installed Mint 20.1/Cinnamon 64 bit a week ago or so, have had random freezes/lock ups where I would have to do a hard boot. Have been used previous versions on same hardware without issue. System Report here: https://termbin.com/b0c3
If other logs or information is needed, I will definitely need direction in how to get it.

Section 5 of READ: How To Get Help! explains the system data we need to be able to help you. Please provide that system data (inxi -Fxxxrz).

Have you considered updating your BIOS? If this is the correct info GA-970A-D3 (rev. 1.0/1.1) , it appears the last update was F13b so there have been several updates since the version you have. A number of people have found when switching to LM20 that BIOS/UEFI updates they ignored in the past were needed to clear issues in LM20.

It is also possible this is a graphics driver related issue. If a BIOS update does not help or is not something you want to consider, then the next time you restart the system after killing the power, you can run the following in a terminal:
journalctl -rb -1 | nc termbin.com 9999
That command prints the journal log information of the prior boot cycle (the one which you stopped with the power button) in reverse order (so the reason for the freeze should be near the top) and sends it to termbin. You can let us know the link to help you analyze it.

I also use different Windows OS's on this same machine, just have them on separate drives that I unplug/plug in depending on my needs. Will I have to update the BIOS using Windows or Mint, or does it even matter?

I am not aware that Mint has an option for updating BIOSes. While it may be possible to update through Windows, I suggest checking the owner's manual for your motherboard on your options for updating.

I do not know enough about Gigabyte mobos to give specific advice. I think Gigabyte has a community forum where you could probably find recommendations.

I upgraded to the latest non-beta BIOS version. So far it comes out of whatever "mode" it is in when the screen saver kicks in. Which was one of the main issues. I'll use it like this for a few days and see if anything freezes/locks up.
