Another weird sound problem. [solved]

Post by timmn1 »

I'm not sure this has anything to do with Mint, that's why I'm putting it here.

I just replaced my AOC monitor with a new Acer ET32QU monitor, and since then, the system sounds went away, streamed videos play without any problems, Pithos and Spotify work fine. The weird thing is that while I'm listening to Spotify, the system sounds come back. I have a few Unigine Benchmarking programs that I use to test computers I'm working on, and one of them, Valley 1.0 has no sound, where the rest play fine.

The monitor is connected to the computer via HDMI, I simply disconnected the cable from the AOC and plugged it into the Acer. The powered speakers were connected to the headphone port on the AOC and are now connected to the headphone port on the Acer. I've changed nothing on the computer besides the monitor.
If anyone has any suggestions why this is happening they would be most welcome.

Here's the output from inxi:

Someday, maybe I'll figure out exactly what the hell I'm doing.

I got it to work, but I tried so many things, I don't know exactly what made it start to work.
