Hey folks,
I searched the forums and found lots of problems, yet no answers which worked for me.
I tried to watch a movie the other night on amazon prime.
I have cinn 2.1 and firefox which came preloaded as browser.
The first night I tried it, video didn't start and it produced a DRM error with some unhelpful suggestions about turning on functions which were already on.
I just tried it this morning and every video I tried loaded and started playing for about two seconds before returning video unavailable and closing the vid.
Fresh issue folks, come and get em'
Thanks for any thoughts, ideas, hazing rockets of flame,
ghostofamerica

Hi ghostofamerica and welcome to the forum.ghostofamerica wrote: ⤴Mon Jul 12, 2021 11:19 am I have cinn 2.1 and firefox which came preloaded as browser.
If you mean Cinnamon 2.1 then the vesion of Mint that you're running must be hugely customised or well out of date.
If you have a read of How to get help, here http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=83444, paying particular attention to Section 5 then I'm sure that someone will be able to help you.
Cheers.

Hi dorsetUK,
thanks for your response! The output of inxi follows:
The typical error message follows:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2P ... QeboBa/pub
I don't know if that worked, so I'll type it out as well:
Your web browser is missing a digital rights component. in your web browsers address bar type: about:addons press enter, then on the left click Plugins. For the Widevine Content decryption Module, select always activate(it is selected btw)

Install chrome, that's what I did. I even changed the desktop icon to amazon. Not ideal, but it works.

Re: first post- amazon prime video- mint cinn 2.1 firefox DRM error no play
Are you using a separate '/home' partition and have you configured it so as to prohibit the use of the execution bit on files? If so, allow execution, as at least Firefox with WidevineCdm requires it; I had to allow execution on my '/home' for Netflix, and I'm guessing the same thing applies to Amazon Prime.
If that all sounded like alien jibber-jabber, then it probably doesn't apply to you, and so it's presumably a different issue.
