I would like to modify an ISO using Cubic. Is it possible to remove icons from the desktop, change the theme, add icons to the taskbar and change the language via a command I could use in Cubic?
I apologize in advance if I posted the topic in the wrong section.

Re: Customizing ISO by Cubic
Probably but I doubt it'd fix any compatibility problems with theming etc. Tried doing a web search? This is the 1st time I've seen this program mentioned in this forum, just looked at their launchpad home page. The fact it doesn't seem to have been updated in a couple of years bothers me.

Cubic has been mentioned a few times, but I can't remember a whole lot good said of it. Not a whole lot bad either - just not many people using it.

Re: Customizing ISO by Cubic
Cubic, described as a GUI for customizing Ubuntu iso. From what I understand from this page..
https://www.techrepublic.com/article/ho ... ith-cubic/
and
https://ubunlog.com/en/cubic-iso-personalizada-ubuntu/
Is that changes, additions must be done via command line in a chroot environment. So it would not be so easy to say remove an icon, for example.
IMHO, a much better option to create a (truly) custom ISO is using Systemback. It will allow you to customize till the cows come home from an installed system, though it only need be a virtual box machine install (so you never need actually burn the original iso to a USB stick).
You'll be able to add software, from software manager if you like, remove software, change theme, remove languages, etc, it will also remember all your .configs, like terminal colors, GIMP preferences, xed theme, compiz configs, in short EVERYTHING, NOT just a few extra packages like Cubic does.
To get Systemback for mint 19 or 20 follow the install instructions here,
https://github.com/BluewhaleRobot/systemback
It truly is a GUI program, and is fairly self explanatory. The one exception is when booting the final product, you get an error, just press Ctrl + D to get past that.
To install on mint 18 use the instructions here,
https://www.linuxbabe.com/ubuntu/instal ... onic-18-10
NOTE, Starting at the "sudo apt-key...." command

Re: Customizing ISO by Cubic
Be aware that systemback hasn't been updated since 2015, so not actively maintained.

The github version has had updates since 2015.
on June 8 2020.Add support for Ubuntu 20.04 and large iso
Also it's just a system tool, not like it's a browser, where someone might worry about security patches, and it does work.
