Mint Forums majorly timing out

Post by HappyLinux »

I think this will be a temporary problem and it's not on my end but since yesterday I've been having trouble using this forum. When trying to view pages I end up having to hit refresh several times until the page loads because it frequently times out. After hitting refresh a few times the page loads.

I'm thinking the forum is having a few problems causing it to be slow or something.

I hope it's nothing major and it clears up soon.

P.S. I won't be surprised if I have to hit refresh a few times when posting this message.

Hi--haven't been seeing this here. Never seen this at all and no one else reporting.

Also here; forum's been basically unusable yesterday and is currently. Every page view gets the Sucuri "Hosting Timeout" page at least once, sometimes more. Feels like the server is very busy rebuilding a RAID array or something like that; it's in any case been more than 12 hours now that it's basically unusable.

Even for servers, the future used to look better than it does today ...

Hi folks. I'm encountering the same symptoms. Doesn't look to be a Sucuri or regional issue. It's being looked into.

Expected that someone logged in remotely and rebooted already; few minutes after the above post the forum went offline completely (in that same "Sucuri Hosting Timeout" page sense) for 5 or so minutes and now seems to be good again; may feel very slightly sluggish; maybe a backup server? Any case, for now seems to be working again.

[EDIT] Nope, issue's back / still here (me hits <submit> and prepares to refresh the page up to ten times to have it go through...)

I have been on here for the last 24 hours and I haven't even seen a single glitch, its rock solid for me. However, I had a couple of people during live stream today say that the website was down?

It's then undoubtedly dependent on location from where the forum's accessed, i.e., supposedly an issue with the Sucuri server which we are being routed through.

No, I've already ruled out Sucuri. It's not the cause or involved.

FWIW issue's same if I connect through (the free tier of) ProtonVPN.

Seeing as how the error is not between me/us and the Sucuri firewall system but between latter and the forum server, plus the USA seemingly not seeing it, what could it even potentially be other than said Sucuri firewall system, more specifically, that instance of which we are being routed through?

More precisely; issue's here if connecting through a local ProtonVPN server, and gone indeed if using a usasian based one.

For me it really is; let's wager a guess that Sucuri is rerouting per country and hasn't gotten around to yours yet...

T'was happening constantly here (Ireland) last night, but no problems today.
Was getting an error message along the lines that the cloud service was taking too long to respond.

This problem seems to be only affecting certain legs off the internet backbone. I haven't seen any problems in the last 24 hours here in the USA.

it would seem that I've been logged-in for about Two Hours .. ish,
& there hasn't been any issues, in that time.

for myself, and this Location, it's usually the Sucuri security,
that is the prime suspect, as it's only the LinuxMint site(s) that go awry.
- depending on your Location, and thus which Sucuri portal is the issue.

in this particular case, that may not be the real culprit,
:?
