You have not provided any information about your hardware, but sometimes there is a setting in the BIOS/UEFI which can disable a touchscreen.

If your BIOS/UEFI does not have that option, you will need to determine which xinput device your touchscreen is and disable that one specific device. You can run the xinput command to get more information about how Linux Mint is seeing all your input devices.

Hey.

Thank you for your answer. My laptop is Acer Spin 1 SP111-34N. I'll try to access bios and come back with the answer.

How to disable that device permanently? I have it identified but the command
xinput disable must be used every time I boot my system.

You can go to startup applications and add this command.

I must admit that it's too advanced for me. Could you tell me step by step how to do that or just point to some source, please?

The command xinput disable needs to have a device specified. One does not run just that command.

What is the output of xinput?

I know what happened. I had that command set up but once I started using a USB mouse the numbers of the devices changed and Linux would switch off not the touch screen but some other device that was now under the number "11" whilst the touch screen was under "12" .
