Cannot Turn Off nor Reboot, mint icon just sits there

Post by mawil1013 »

SOLVED by first reply by; SMG, Try the 5.14-oem kernel as that has been helping many people with computers with Ryzen 4000 series CPUs.

Install the latest 5.14-oem kernel with sudo apt install linux-oem-20.04d and reboot.

Since last two updates, cannot shut down nor reboot, have to press and hold power off button on keyboard.

Hard powerdown--danger zone.
1st choice
Ctrl+alt+backspace to regain desktop control.
2nd choice
press and continue to hold alt while entering the following
prtscrn reisub (read about raising elephants)
in linux this is a safer/more comfortable reboot sequence
Everything in life was difficult before it became easy.
