Need to press shutdown twice

Hello everyone.

I'm on Linux mint 21.1 cinnamon on a Lenovo Ideapad laptop.

For some weeks, my laptop won't shutdown the first time I press the shutdown button.

I always need to press it a second time to effectively shutdown my computer.

Before that everything was normal for more than a year since I installed Mint.

If I type "shutdown now" in the CLI everythings work fine though.

Any idea what's the issue ? It's not a big deal but it's annoying.

What is the shutdown button? A key, an icon? Something else?

Must go through shutdown process twice on Cinnamon Menu. First trip does nothing. Shuts down properly on second trip.

Do you shutdown all open programs before?

For testing:
Open Users & Groups and create a new account for testing. Reboot and log into the new account. How does it appear there?

Tried shutting down apps first. Bingo. Shuts down fine with mail open. Will not shut down on first go with Mozilla VPN running. Shuts down perfectly with Moz VPN off.

This is not the case with my desktop, Dell 3080, all Intel, Mint 21.1. It shuts down fine with Moz VPN running. You can see the system shutting the VPN down.

Will compare Moz VPN settings.

Another Bingo. Moz VPN iss from Mozilla on desktop (Moz PPA). From Mint package on laptop. Will change laptop.

Removed Moz VPN (Mint Pkg). started up mail, libreoffice, firefox, shut down. Perfect. Now to reinstall Moz VPN from Moz site.

Perfect. Moz VPN installed from Moz download site with Moz PPA runs and shuts down as it should on system shutdown. Mint pkg has a screw loose somewhere.

Mission accomplished.
