cannot see chinese character but only squares

Postby holyct » Wed Jul 18, 2007 11:18 am

well, as already stated in the title. Back in Ubuntu, chinese characters/webpages can be viewed without any additional effort, but in Mint Cassandra, I can only see squares, even after i follow the ubuntuguide on configuring SCIM to input chinese and installed every single package needed, i can only input squares.

Chinese is working fine for me in mint. Are you sure you have all of the Chinese support packages installed, and all of the Chinese fonts? What web browser are you using? Is it a problem only with kde apps or with all apps?

simply install ttf-arphic-uming and ttf-arphic-ukai from synaptic. It works for me.

Welcome to Mint sc4bbk
and thanks for the tip, even if I think he's either given up or found it already :)
