NTFS file recovery.

Post by Mintylamb »

I had a ntfs partition, with valuble files, but now it is unbootable and I can't view anything in it. Are there any solutions other than checkdisk? NTFS fix appears succesful but won't solve the problem. I don't want to use checkdisk as I prefer linux tools.

Try TestDisk http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk. Installing it in Mint is easy :

Code: Select all

apt install testdisk

If you upgraded your kernel please use apt-get instead of apt. Please note this must be run as root like this

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install testdisk
.
