Back again after flirting with Pop!_OS

Post by stephanieswitzer »

I was using Mint for a little over a year on my MacMini and MacBook Pro. I was really happy with it. I needed a new Laptop. and after much research I decided to go with the Linux company System76, and their Galago Pro. It came pre-installed with Ubuntu 18.4. After a few days of not liking it, I installed System76 own Linux distro, Pop!_OS. I used it for several months and was really happy with it and their support, thru version 20.04. To be honest while I really liked it, seemed to be a little clunky and seemed to be not as snappy. So guess what? I decided to install Mint 20, and WOW. No issues whatsoever with the installation. It seems to be much quicker than Pop and Ubuntu. I then installed on my MacMini, again without any problems.

Loving it, especially Warpinator. What a great App. Its solves all the problems I was having with file transfers. So glad I'm back.

Have you tried it with XFCE? I think its real snappy with that Desktop. I had some lagging issues with Cinnamon.

I think you did more than a bit of flirting. It sounds like a full-blown, although short-term, affair! ;)

However, you are forgiven. Welcome back. :)

System 76 is my favortie computer vendor at my job.
Their support is great and they stand behind their products.
I bought a $6K laptop from them and they took iit back 100% with no questions when it didn't do what they promised.

POP! is kinda blah. Everyone at work that gets their hardware just installs something else as soon as they confirm that the unit works.

I just used the default DE, I did do a lot of tweaking to Gnome though, to get it to what I liked.

My sentiments entirely. I'll definitely buy from them again.
