Hello!
Sparky here. I am a 76yr old retired software engineer living in the Pacific NW. Been using Linux since 2006.
I used Unix in the late 70's. The first computer I worked on was an IBM terminal cube in 1963. The first program I
wrote was in Dartmouth Basic in 1967 at GE in Seattle.
I've been using Ubuntu/Gnome since 2006. Gnome has been getting very restrictive on me and with Ubuntu 20.04, I
finally decided to look around.
I downloaded the ISOs for Fedora, Debian, KDE-neon, MX-21, Solus and Mint/Mate.
I installed all of them on a brand new Dell tower and found the one I liked best was Mint/Mate. It still had the ease of
desktop configuration as the early versions of Gnome.
I've switched all my Ubuntu systems to Mint.
Another happy camper!

Hi, Sparky! Welcome to the Linux Mint Forum.
I've used the MATE Desktop Environment since it was first released and find it the most intuitive of the three of them.
