I am Marie-Noële. I live in Switzerland and I have a laptop under Linux Mint since a few days. This is mostly a "lab" and "rescue" machine (if my main laptop ever fails), but it also means that it is important and that it must work reliably when I need it. I am happy to join a large community around this distribution.
Hello Marie-Noële,

Hello

Thank you very much for your kind message. I know that Mint is mature and stable and I do not doubt that it will work very well.

Say "Hi" if this applies to you!

I am a mixed bag European, currently in London. As of today 13 Nov I am taking my first steps in Linux, with trepidation.
Hi I'm Debbie from Kamloops. I'm really impressed with Mint! Love this build!

Agree, it doesn't matter much here apart from as a curiousity and knowing you are not the only one.

But there are plenty of times it matters a great deal, imo! Examples: Bringing life into this world, Lifting a very heavy object in an emergency, Most aspects of home-making (let's face it -we do it better!), Bravery and kudos in a life-threatening situation like terrorist hostage taking in Paris (there are no chicks in the Spetsnaz, Foreign legion or SAS).
We couldn't make it without each other though!
Viva la diferencia! :D
But do our real ladies consider this thread pandering?
State your case.
Personally I love you all--even the grouchy ones.
Just to mention though--my mother was a lady in-fact

State your case.
I wouldn't know, I don't call myself that.

Here's how I see it: in an ideal world, we would not need this thread because gender doesn't matter in most things and certainly not in technical things. But it's not an ideal world, and in a technical forum, it can be good to see that this is a place where women AND men can be found. And also some people who don't fit either of these categories. And all are welcome.

Some technical spaces still are male-dominated, so it's helpful to state explicitly that this one is not.

Hi there everyone!

I'm in the process of prepping to move to a dual-booting Win10/Mint setup. I've got new harddrives on order and i'm waiting for them to show up in the mail!

When they arrive, I'm gonna be installing Mint on a separate drive.

Unfortunately I still need Windows for some work related programs, but I don't need it everyday, and I'm salty as all get out about Win11, and my salt level has gotten high enough I'm finally taking the plunge!

Hi,
That's because your little brother lacks some elementary features  :
- cannot be reinstalled from scratch
- has no maintenance from trusted repository list
- cannot be Timeshifted with a snap where he was nice to you.

Hey everyone.
I'm a female member returning after about a two-year absence. I use a System76, Galago Pro 4 laptop that is pre-installed with Pop!_OS, and while the experience with Pop has been generally good, their recent update has not impressed me. I saw that Mint 20.3 Cinnamon had been released so I installed it, and quite frankly I'm glad that I did, and wonder why I didn't do this earlier. Anyway, I'm really enjoying being back here, and look forward to interacting on the forums. I should update my Avatar as the present one is a little out of date :D

Hi everybody. I'm using Linux for like 10 years, and LMDE for like 4 years. Happy to see some other feminine persons here.

Can we say the proportion of feminist women is higher into informatics than into the society in general ?

Hello and welcome! Well, I'm female, but if you're going to call me feminine, then I'm going to give you a very dirty look.
That's not how I would describe myself, at all.

Impossible to know. It might be true, it might not be.

Well, I'm female, but if you're going to call me feminine, then I'm going to give you a very dirty look.
Haha :D Sorry for the misunderstanding :s
It's kinda the opposite about me : I define me a feminine woman, but I don't like to define myself a female. When I said "feminine person", I was talking about the gender identity, not about the gender expression. Now I see your answer, I understand the ambiguity x)
Impossible to know. It might be true, it might not be.
Then we do need a study about it ! It's kind of urgently essential !! lol.
