Artsci2 intro

Postby artsci2 » Sun Aug 26, 2012 9:38 am

I'm a linux user since Red Hat 4. 99% of my linux use has been web browsing. I do write big spreadsheets with Gnumeric though. My current computers Aug 2012:

eePC 900 with 900MHz Celeron, 2Gb RAM and original 16Gb SSD, (SWEET! HIGHLY RECOMENDED)
Mint 13 Maya made this a useable web browser. It was worthles with Windows XP.

Phenom II 980 (4,2Ghz), 8Gb, Radeon 4870, Dual 1920x1200 screen, Dual boot Debian/Windows XP

HP dv2500 laptop with Mint 12 LXDE in my garage. wifi issues needs closed driver, plays movies good though.

Compaq QC61 laptop Windows 7 works ok with upgrade to 4Gb mem

next project:
Intel i5-3570k with 16Gb using on chip graphics .
I want to set up a full featured linux system that boots "toram"

Welcome to the mint family forums

The idea that Bill Gates has appeared like a knight in shining armour to lead all customers out of a mire of technological chaos neatly ignores the fact that it was he who, by peddling second-rate technology, led them into it in the first place.

Hi artsci2, welcome to the Linux Mint forums :D Thanks for joining the forums!

Be sure also to check out the Community website (tutorials, hardware and software reviews, ideas), and the Cinnamon Spices website for adding even more themes, applets and extensions to Cinnamon.

You can also chat in real-time with other Linux Mint users. In the Mint Menu, in the Internet section, start the application XChat IRC. You will automatically get connected to #linuxmint-chat for general chat and #linuxmint-help for support with other Linux Mint users.

Have fun with Linux Mint.
