introducing JuhaJ

Postby juhaj » Tue Sep 17, 2013 11:44 am

Hello World,

well, I'm middleaged man from Pohjois-Sawo, Finland.
I used to work for IT-industry for about 10 years, then '06 I got a life.
Recently I have started to test different linux-distros to replace good-old-XP.
My previous experience with Linux was back in end of last millenium with finnish SOTLinux, Slackware and Ubuntu.

I'm using a Acer Aspire One D255 netbook.

I have tried different versions of Mint (13,14,15 Xfce/Mate), Ubuntu 12.04 / 13.04, Fedora 19.

Otherwise everything works but bluetooth. It freezes. On all of them. It's not necessary to have, but it would be nice. So far I've managed with usb-connection to phone.
I would like to partition the disk for more than just XP and one Mint installation, I'll need to practice how to make more partitions and how to change size of partitions (shrink the big ones).
GoogleDrive for linux would be nice, and Chrome.
And ebook reader software that can handle Adobe DRM. Our library has these books, but these work only within Windows and Adobe Digital Editions  . Those things I miss from the M$ world.

One of the things I'm wondering, is why these installation dvds are so big? Nearly 1 GB
When I need only like 5 to 10 basic applications. Weird or what

Well that's it, hope you enjoyd, cheers :D - I'll be back with some questions - already some in the finnish section.

I like running AntiX on my Netbooks but you know how bias, skill set, and personal preference enters into a users choices.

Good luck with your install.
