Hey all

Post by chunk1982 » Mon Oct 06, 2014 4:36 am

My names paul im 32 from the uk and a noob when it comes to linux.
I have toyed with linux in the past, I quite liked
karmic koala 9.10 or 10.4 or something along those lines lol.
I do a lot of phone modding/rooting/hacking what ever lingo you like to use and as so have been using windows 7, but windows pisses me off every single day so a friend of mine suggest mint.
Im running mint 17 cinnamon and have got to say its really very good especially for those jumping from windows ;)
One thing I need to ask though, I have a ati-hd6xxx series gpu and out of the box mint uses the xserver.xorg driver and cant seem to find the catalyst control centre, when searching in the "app store" I cant find it either. Can anyone tell me how to install it please

Many thanks and all the best

Paul

Welcome to Mint and to the forum, Paul !

"jumping from windows" is a good thing... You discover you can fly.

You can try a different (fglrx) driver using the Driver Manager (System Settings > Administration > Device Drivers)

The idea that Bill Gates has appeared like a knight in shining armour to lead all customers out of a mire of technological chaos neatly ignores the fact that it was he who, by peddling second-rate technology, led them into it in the first place.
