Hi, I'm a graphic designer
Hi:
I have been using Mint since 10, mostly on MATE desktop.
Now I want to improve the compatibility of my icon theme (Vamox) with Cinnamon.

Welcome to the Linux Mint family Vamox. Looking forward to seeing samples of your work.
You've been quite the lurker to have been on LM since version 10.

hahaha, kinda. I participated in spanish speaking forums and mailing lists. And I made a blog about migrating and using open solutions for graphic design.dawgdoc wrote:Welcome to the Linux Mint family Vamox. Looking forward to seeing samples of your work.

My objective now is to improve Vamox icons, and make and english site about the project.

Re: Hi, I'm a graphic designer
Welcome to the Mint family of silly penguins!
All jokes aside, I used to do web development a while ago. I also have experience with Blender and Gimp. So you could say I'm a graphics artist as well. Here are some propreitary applications and their linux alternatives.
Autodesk Maya/Softimage XSI/Max 3DS/etc can be replaced with Blender
Photoshop can be replaced with Gimp
Final Cut Pro (or any move making suite) can be replaced with Kdenlive (havent tried any other editors on Linux)
FLStudio (or any audio editting program) can be replaced with Audacity and something like BFXR for generation of sounds.
Adobe Flash can be replaced with Pencil (havent tried any other flash-ish animation programs on Linux)
While this list is not exhaustive, I hope it helps.

Re: Hi, I'm a graphic designer
For Graphic Design works ... I use
Blender (3D & rendering)
Inkscape (Vector & 2D)
and Pinta (for brushes)
... and LibreCAD or SagCAD (architural)
* MS Window and MS Adobe have nothing I need or want

Re: Hi, I'm a graphic designer
I'm already working with full Open Source tools, the hard part is to convince more people to use them in whatever OS they are using and eventually migrating them to Mint

"Autodesk Maya/Softimage XSI/Max 3DS/etc can be replaced with Blender"
Sorry but this is so wrong in so many aspects. Simply no Blender is not a replacement for any of those
