Mac Addict to Mint. Hi from Montréal

Hello, I'm a consumate Mac guy. Some weeks ago I bought a mint condition Acer notebook with guess what: Windows 7 and Ubuntu Mate. The friend who sold it to me is a Linux addict and we had in the past animated discussions. He used the Acer only to try out new distros. Don't care very much about Windows 7 (Explorer, Firefox and Google were infected the very first day). So I decided to confront the beast. My friend installed Ubuntu 14.04 and I could have stayed with it. Then I saw this OSX lookalike called Elememtary Freya. The buggiest of them all. Then came Mint. I simply love this distro and I want to know eveything about it. I posted my first Newbie question. Cause Newbie is what I am. I don't even know the vocabulary of Linux and all. But I'm a fast learner. So this is my story. Who knows? Maybe one day, I'll leave my iMac off for one day. But right now there's so much I don't understand.
