Pleased to be here, converted today

Post by Swabian »

After some years of working with windows I finally want to leave the redmond way step by step now. That means i have a dual boot setup since today, so i still can rely on win to have access to the board in case i'm screwing it up
Still i'll have to overcome some obstacles, nikon's capture nx-d e.g. is only available for win and mac but is rated as garbage with wine. I really do hope one of the open source converters will do as well in comparison rendering colors.
But for now i'm happy i took the first step into an environment much more exiting and pleasing as well to my stance on how things should be. I hope my english doesn't sound too akward to those of you who are native speakers, looking forward to improving my speech too aside my skills with mint (took me three days to decide which Distro to take :D ).

Welcome to the Mint family forums

The idea that Bill Gates has appeared like a knight in shining armour to lead all customers out of a mire of technological chaos neatly ignores the fact that it was he who, by peddling second-rate technology, led them into it in the first place.

I don't work in RAW anymore but I may have a few images in my old nikon format to test with. Otherwise, I dumped Gimp in favor of Krita for Jpeg editing. You might want to check that out. Welcome to some minty freshness!
