Oh, I'm not sure I do anything unusual with it, at all. I use Linux Mint as my sole OS, and my mother uses it too. I mostly use my laptop for browsing the internet, chatting, image editing... pretty normal stuff I'd say.whackamolecule wrote:What types of unusual things do you do with your OSes?

Hello, fine people of Mint! My name is Fiona, and I am a complete newbie. I have no previous IT skills except for extensive research when I try to decide what laptop to buy. I switched to Linux because I was frustrated with Windows trying to make money from everything I do, and perhaps use Linux to forcefully improve my tech skills. Now I'm slowly passing the murky waters and figuring stuff out, but Chrome is working so everything is fine so far lol. It's very nice to see such a thriving community, and I can't wait to use Linux with you all!

Re: Welcome Ladies - post here :)
Hi I just started using mint cinnamon as of last saturday, but have used other ubuntu/linus systems for around 10 years I I used ubuntu, 10.04 and before that, then more recently 12.04 LTS only up until support ran out for it, ok, I left it a little late and should have kept updating I know, any way nice to have such support like I did with other services such as launchpad and ubuntu forums before this, so thanks guys

Hi again" thanks so much for the welcome.
Re: Welcome Ladies - post here :)
Hello everyone! My name is Ewa, I am very new to Linux Mint, but I love it very much. Previously I have been using Xubuntu since 13.04, but last version (17.10) didn't work for me, so decided to give linux mint a try and it was good choice. To my surprise Mint 18.04 works better on my computer than Xubuntu which should be designed for older computers
Anyway. Great forum and nice to be here

I am a retired grandmother just trying Mint for the first time. I have been fed up with MS windows and looking for a better solution for a while. Been working with PC's since the early 80s and I needed a change. I am looking forward to a new adventure. So far I love it just trying to get some of my network set up and learning the Linux commands. I am sure I will be asking allot of questions along the way.
Thanks

Re: Welcome Ladies [Hello Linux Mint Forums!]
Hello ladies on the Linux Mint Forums
My name's Zoey, I'm a transgender female, & I enjoy playing videogames and making websites.
I've used Windows since 2005 (when I was 5 years old) but am now interested in using Linux Mint as my main (and only) PC operating system, and I have signed up to this forum for if I ever need help in that quest.
I've used Ubuntu 16.04 as my main (and only) PC OS for 6 months before installing and learning about Mint, so I shouldn't need much help often, but in-case I do I'm introducing myself now.
Glad to know there's some girls interested in Linux Mint, I'm glad to be a part of them.
See you soon,
Zoey Globe
