Howdy

Post by ardchoille50 » Thu Feb 04, 2016 7:05 pm

My name is Ian MacGregor and I have been using Linux distros as my sole operating system since the late 1990's.

Yesterday I found a $300 laptop for $188. the reason for the reduction in price was that the box was open - the original owner didn't like it for some reason and returned it. Well, I couldn't pass that up, so I inquired as to the integrity of the system and was told that it passed inspection. I grabbed it up and took it home and tested Mint 17.3 from a SUB stick and all worked well. My first step with any PC is to wipe Windows and install Linux, and this little laptop works perfectly!

I had been away from Linux for over a year and found that Mint has GUI's for things that I used to do in a terminal - nice job, devs!
I'm very happy with my new Mint box and look forward to enjoying Linux again.

Welcome to the Mint family forums

The idea that Bill Gates has appeared like a knight in shining armour to lead all customers out of a mire of technological chaos neatly ignores the fact that it was he who, by peddling second-rate technology, led them into it in the first place.
