Hello Linux Mint Forums

Post by The Old Timer »

Hello Linux Mint Forums,

Been using Linux Mint Mate 17.1 for over a year. I was using Windows 7 as a main driver but just didn't care for the way that Microsoft seems to be going with the Windows 10 upgrade. Been reading through the forum and decided to create an account and here I am.

Hey All,

Thanks for the welcomes and the links as info is always useful. Haven't had any issues with my LM since installing it on my ten year old Windows XP desktop that was sitting around doing nothing. I was impressed from the start as I had no drivers to find and everything just worked. It is true what I have read about Linux giving a new life to older computers.

The idea that Bill Gates has appeared like a knight in shining armour to lead all customers out of a mire of technological chaos neatly ignores the fact that it was he who, by peddling second-rate technology, led them into it in the first place.
